When it comes to art in the downtown area, it’s easy to forget how far north you can get to get art, said Galleria owner and artist Jim Kavanagh.
“There are a lot of places where you can walk to get a good deal,” Kavanaugh said.
“But the Galleries is one of them.”
The Galleries was built on the former site of the Gallerie at Gallier Plaza in downtown Galleria, but it now occupies a whole new space on the property.
Located just north of downtown, it has been remodeled in recent years with a more modern look.
In recent years, Kavanaugas family has been working to keep the building accessible and has also expanded the space.
The new space offers more seating, more outlets, and a better view of the city.
“The idea is, if you want to go, you’re going to want to see the galleries, which is great,” Kavaugh said, adding that the new space also offers more space for art lovers.
“You can see the whole city, the whole country.
I’m sure the city will be happy to have some people come through.”
One of the things Kavanaunas family is striving to do is create a space for people to go to when they need a little more space.
“We have to get into our art and create a place where people can see what we’re doing,” Kavinaugh said about creating a space to showcase his art.
“That’s why we’ve got so many outlets in the store.”
The new Galleria will also include new art galleries, an indoor courtyard, and more retail outlets.
“It’s going to be a really cool, dynamic environment,” Kavenagh said.
